Kynard’s desire for creativity began at an early age in Detroit, Michigan. Drawing caricatures of his teachers and classmates sometimes got him into trouble, but it sharpened his eye for detail and accurate forms. With the support and encouragement of his family and friends, his expressions and interpretations of many art forms developed into a continuous educational forum for all people. Music as an influence was highly visible in Kynard’s art. Music helped set many of the rhythmic patterns that flowed throughout the compositions on Kynard’s canvases.
Kynard received his formal training in art from Eastern Michigan University and California State University Los Angeles. His prestigious showings were held throughout California, Georgia, and Michigan. Kynard also extensively studied graphic, interior, and environmental designs, which extended the variations of his artistic agenda.
Kynard captured the true African heritage through art forms and customs relinquished by forefathers and merged with everyday life situations happening throughout the world. His passion for color and detail demonstrated his appreciation for third world cultures and symbols. A sense of melodious movement was ever present in the captivating rhythms that came alive on his canvas.
